Here’s the post that none of you have been waiting for! Except maybe for Bob. Here’s image files being transmitted across 70 feet of cat5 cable at 1.8Mbps (five seconds for a 2MB image file) with no crc errors! In other words, a modular trail cam system connected by long cables is feasible, where the user’s system controller box is located separately from multiple camera modules, and separately from multiple motion sensors! Think about how flexible this system can be where you can set up multiple cameras pointing at the wildlife site (like, one inside an owl nest box, one outside), and multiple motion sensors like one at the entrance hole and another one on the bird’s flight path toward the nest box. While having all of the user-accessible controls like batteries and SD card located on the ground away from the nest.
But will it be ready to hang in a tree next week? Umm, stay tuned.
As for those two anomalous spikes on the scope, I’ll get back to you.
